2010-2011 Scholarship Award Recipents from the School of Journalism

Scholarships awarded to Journalism students


Judith Roales Scholarship
Lisa Brock is a junior in news/editorial from Robbins, Ill. She plans to work in downtown Chicago or surrounding southern suburb at a high traffic newspaper or public relations firm.

Kiara Ann Goodman is a junior in news/editorial from Kansas City, Kan. She wants to become a video journalist, work on multi-media projects, commercials, docu-series and personal human-interest pieces.

Charles Feirich Memorial Scholarship
Willie Porter is a freshman in advertising from Chicago, Ill. He hopes to become an elite graphic designer and advertising agent/promoter after obtaining his master's degree.

Golden Quill Award

Whitney Way is a sophomore in news/editorial from Homewood, Ill. She is double-majoring in journalism and accounting, and plans to intern at a Chicago newspaper or magazine, gaining an entry level position. She would like to have a position as an editorialist on a prominent business oriented newspaper.

Charles C. Clayton Scholarship

Tyler Wooten is a news/editorial sophomore from Ottawa, Ill. He would like to become a writer either in print or on-line.

Bill Harmon Scholarship

Sarah Schneider is a news/editorial freshman from Arcola, Ill. She plans to work as a city reporter at a newspaper in Boston – she is determined to work in her favorite city.

Donald Hileman Memorial Scholarship

Karina Enriquez is an advertising junior from Chicago, Ill. After graduate school, she plans to get a job in the sports industry as an advertiser or marketer for Chicago sports teams.

Journalism Alumnus Scholarship
Robert Bachmann is a sophomore double majoring in photography and advertising from Hawthorn Woods, Ill. He hopes to be a creative director, managing the advertising applications of commercial photography.

Harry W. and Helen M Stonecipher Scholarship
Brandon Willingham is a news/editorial sophomore from Calumet City, Ill. He will be a professional news/sports journalist and CEO of a major franchise or company.

Charlotte Thompson Suhler Advertising Award
Alexandria Snelius is an advertising sophomore from Manteno, Ill. Her dream is to intern with the Chicago White Sox in their communications department. She hopes to work in the advertising/media department for a large company in media planning/buying or media research.

Ray Serati-Ben Kiningham Illinois Legislative Correspondents Association Scholarship
Benjamin Conrady is a news/editorial sophomore from Lincoln, Ill. He would love for sports to be a part of his career for the rest of his life. Working at a newspaper, magazine, television station or radio station covering sports would be extremely rewarding for him.
