Donations welcome for scholarship to remember Rendleman
Matching gift challenge announced
The School of Journalism began the Ryan Rendleman Photojournalism Scholarship in honor of the beloved journalism student who was killed April 29 in a traffic accident.
Community donors have committed a challenge grant of $6,500 toward the scholarship. Faculty members to date have already pledged $3,500.
Gifts from students and others in the community are being received at the journalism office. Checks should be made out to the Ryan Rendleman Photojournalism Scholarship.
Rendleman was on his way to an assignment for the Daily Egyptian when he was struck by a tractor trailer.
The creation of the scholarship was announced at a ceremony May 6 at which a red bud tree was planted in Rendleman's honor outside the Journalism School.
The school hopes to collect the $25,000 necessary to create an endowed scholarship to perpetuate Rendleman's memory.
Rendleman, along with DuVale Riley, shot most of the photos on this web site. He appears at the right of the last photo of the show that plays on this page.
Rendleman, a graduating senior, also worked as the Daily Egyptian photo editor.
